Paddle for the Border
- CANCELLED FOR 2021 -
Updated May 12, 2021
Dear 2020 Paddle for the Border Registered Participant:
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paddle partners have made the decision to cancel the 2021 Paddle for the Border event which was tentatively scheduled for this fall. The health and safety of our communities continues to be of upmost importance.
At this point, all 2020 registered participants should have received a refund. If you have not, please contact the Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism office at 757-382-6411. Most refunds were processed by January 2021.
We are committed to doing everything we can to bring our communities together for a Paddle for the Border 2022 event and will always follow the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of North Carolina, and CDC guidelines. If it’s safe to do so, registration will open on January 2, 2022 for the Saturday, May 7th event. Visit www.CityofChesapeake.net/Paddle for up-to-date information and registration.
In the meantime, Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism has put together an exciting virtual passport, Paddle the Peake, available via the Visit Chesapeake, VA app. Beginning in June, you can download and use the Paddle the Peake Passport to check in to some of our waterway
The Chesapeake Visitor Center/Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is able to help with any information about paddling and boating in Chesapeake, including boat and kayak put-in locations and other options. Visit www.CityofChesapeake.net/PRT or VisitChesapeake.com to learn more or call 757-382-6411.
The Dismal Swamp State Park and Camden County Tourism Development Authority/Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center will continue to offer information about paddling and boating in North Carolina.
We thank you for your understanding during these difficult times and hope to see you next year!
