How to Help
We appreciate all the people who have reached out wanting to help their community during this challenging time. Here are a few ways you can safely help.
Individual Donations
The best way to help is through monetary donations made to United Way (designate City of Chesapeake). They have a system in place to accept donations and get residents what they need. Donations primarily go to schools for feeding children while schools are closed, as well as feeding the elderly. Donate here.
Several local churches are partnering to support families during this time. Learn more about drop off locations and items needed.
Corporate Donations
Businesses wishing to help schools financially may choose to donate to the Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation.
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is in high demand right now. If you’re a business with unused approved PPE (N95 Masks, gloves, eye protection, etc.) that you’d like to donate, fill out this form.
Masks
Please note that we cannot accept homemade masks. Unfortunately, there is no evidence that homemade masks are effective against COVID-19, nor is there a standard by which they can be properly tested.
