Voter Registration Drives
General information concerning holding a Voter Registration Drive.
Effective July 1, 2013, per SB 1008, all individuals or groups requesting twenty-five (25) or more voter registration applications from Department of Elections (DOE), the City of Chesapeake Voter Registrar's Office or any other local voter registration office must register and receive DOE-certified training for conducting voter registration drives.
You may complete this training online, attend an instructor led session held at the Virginia Department of Elections, or attend an instructor led session held at the Chesapeake Voter Registration office. Visit the Virginia Department of Elections website for more info »
The training offered at the Chesapeake Voter Registration office will cover topics including:
- A review and completion of the voter registration application
- Best practices
- Prohibited activities
- Submission of completed applications.
After successful completion of the training you may request up to 200 voter registration applications from the Chesapeake Voter Registration Office. If additional applications are needed, they can be requested directly from the Department of Elections.
