Sidewalk Maintenance
Sidewalks are a part of the overall transportation system in the City. They are typically constructed of concrete. Concrete by its nature can develop cracks at locations other than formed joints. Failures typically are the result of tree roots or heavy loads from vehicles.
The first priority of sidewalk maintenance is to remove tripping hazards that may occur. In older areas of the City, ramps conforming to the requirements of The Americans with Disabilities Act have been funded in the Capital Improvement Program to the extent that funds may be available.
To report a problem, call the Chesapeake Customer Contact Center at 382-CITY(2489) between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
