Here are all the links and details from this week's edition of
Chesapeake Weekly: Under 5, which you can find on our
Instagram page every Monday.
Schools are back in session!
Chesapeake Public Schools welcomed children back virtually this week and in-person learning may not be far away for some.
Chesapeake Child Abuse Reporting Hotline
With the lack of in-person interaction between kids and their teachers while virtual learning, there are concerns that child abuse and neglect could go unnoticed or unreported. If you suspect abuse in a child you know, call the Chesapeake Child Abuse Reporting Hotline at 757-382-2020.
Hurricane Emergency Kits
Do you have your emergency kit ready? You should have enough supplies to last you and everyone in your household (including your pets!) for at least three days. For a comprehensive list of items that should be in your kit visit Ready.gov/Kit.
Know Your Risk
If you live in Chesapeake, you’re at risk to experience flooding. Period. That’s why everyone in Chesapeake should have flood insurance. You can learn more about flooding in our region at GetFloodFluent.org. Learn about flood insurance at FloodSmart.gov or contact your local insurance agent.
The Final (Census) Countdown!
You have until September 30 to be counted in this decade’s Census! It’s really important that we get an accurate count so that we can receive all the federal funding we deserve here in Chesapeake.
City Council
City Council meets on Tuesday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m. with a work session at 5 p.m. Watch live on your television on Cox Channel 48 or Verizon Channel 43. It’ll also stream online at CityofChesapeake.net/LiveFeed.
