Chesapeake Alert is the system we use to send phone calls, text messages, or emails when there’s an emergency in the area. This could be something like a severe weather warning, an evacuation order, or a police incident. If you sign up to be in the system, you can choose how we reach you. Are text messages better than phone calls? Do you prefer a call on your cell or your landline? You can make those choices when you sign up.
And it’s not just for emergencies. You can opt-in to receive a variety of community notifications such as trash day reminders, travel advisories, and even weather alerts. You have all the control about how and when you receive non-emergency notifications. If you don’t want any, you don’t have to sign up for them.
