If your new year’s resolutions include getting fit both physically and financially, you might be noticing those two things don’t always go well together. Gyms and fitness programs can be expensive. That is, unless you choose to use your local community center!
Chesapeake has eight community centers scattered throughout the City so there’s likely one near your neighborhood. Each of them has a fitness center complete with cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines. There are even locker rooms and showers, making those lunch break workouts a little more manageable. The best part? Membership for Chesapeake residents is just $35 per year for adults, $10 for kids, and FREE for those 55 and older.
Community Centers also host a variety of fitness classes during the day and evenings such as MixxedFit, Aerobics, Cardio and Strength, and Yoga for adults. Some other classes for youth include Ballet/Tap, Jazz/Hip Hop, Karate, and Boxing 101. There are fees for those classes but the amount varies depending on the type of class and its length.
Learn more about community centers and all the classes and programs they offer by visiting CityofChesapeake.net/PRT or calling 757-382-6411.
