Optional Benefits

Deferred Compensation
Regular full-time and part-time City employees are eligible to participate in the International City Management Association (ICMA-RC) Retirement Corporation deferred compensation plan, which is covered under Section 457 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Health Insurance
The City offers three plan options through Optima Health for regular full-time employees.
Dental Insurance
The City offers one plan through Anthem Dental for regular full-time employees.
Vision Insurance
The City offers one plan through Davis Vision for regular full-time employees.
Flexible Spending Accounts
The City offers medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts through WageWorks. The medical care flexible spending account is offered to regular full-time employees. The dependent flexible spending account is available for regular full-time and part-time employees.
Long Term Disability Insurance
The City provides employees in VRS Plans 1 or 2 a Long Term Disability (LTD) benefit with 40% income replacement after a 180 day waiting period that provides coverage for two years. Employees in VRS Plans 1 or 2 can purchase additional coverage to decrease the waiting period to 90 days, increase the income replacement to 60% and maintain coverage until the employee reaches normal social security retirement age. Employees in the VRS Hybrid Plan are provided employer-paid short and long term disability. For more information, please visit www.varetire.org.
Legal Services Plan
The City offers one plan through Legal Resources for regular full-time and part-time employees.
Optional Life Insurance
You are eligible to purchase optional life insurance for yourself and your spouse and dependent children through Minnesota Life. The costs of this coverage vary with your selection of coverage and your age.
