Purpose:
The purpose of the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council shall be to promote interest in improving the environment of Chesapeake, Virginia thereby making Chesapeake a greener, cleaner and healthier city in which to live, work and visit. The CEIC will accomplish its purpose through outreach, education, and volunteer efforts to include litter and pollution prevention, waste reduction and recycling, beautification, conservation landscaping, and other environmental and conservation issues.
Membership:
Eighteen volunteers are appointed by the Mayor to serve three-year terms on the governing board. However, thousands of other volunteers are actively involved in CEIC projects and sub-committees. Visitors are welcome to attend CEIC monthly meetings.
