Fire Station 9 is home to the crews of Engine 9 and Medic 9 located in the central north section of the City of Chesapeake in the area known as Camelot. The current fire station was opened on March 18th, 2005 on the 9th anniversary of the Advance Auto fire where Firefighter's Frank Young and John Hudgins made the supreme sacrifice in the service of our city. New Fire Station 9 is considered "state of the art" in design where form followed function. It replaced the older Brentwood Station that had been in use since the birth of the City of Chesapeake in 1963.

The truck is outfitted with various firefighting and rescue tools as well as advance lifesaving medical capabilities. Engine 9 runs autoaid responses with the City of Portsmouth, providing additional firefighting forces for both cities.

Medic 9 is a state of the art Advance Life Support transport unit. This vehicle has a Horton Emergency Vehicle body mounted on a 2019 Ford F550 chassis and is staffed with two firefighter/EMTs. Medic 9 is capable of handling an array of medical and traumatic emergencies involving patients requiring both Advance and Basic Life Support.

Command 9 is 2012 Navistar vehicle with a 20 kilowatt generator that serves as the Department's mobile command unit for complex working incidents. The vehicle is equipment with advance communications equipment and provides incident commanders with several workstations to assist with managing large prolonged emergencies.

Fire Station 9's first due run area is comprised of a variety of densely built single and multifamily homes as well heavy commercialized areas and two industrial parks. This run area is bordered to the East by the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, to the North by the City of Portsmouth, to the West by Cavalier Industrial Park, and to the South by Interstate 64. Engine 9 and Medic 9 respond to portions of both Interstates 64 and 264.
