What are the requirements for becoming a certified Adult Foster Care provider?
  • Must be a City of Chesapeake resident
  • Submit an application, including 3 references (employer and personal)
  • Central Registry check (CPS)
  • Criminal background check
  • Take a Tuberculosis (TB) test
  • Have a fire safety inspection and home inspection. Home must meet City Codes.
  • Provide a financial statement
  • Provide mortgage statement or landlord/leasing approval letter
  • Attend an orientation training
  • Maintain a comfortable and safe home
