Long Term Facilities Master Plan Steering Committee Meeting

PLEASE NOTE: This meeting will be held online and is open to the public via in-person viewing at City Hall in City Council Chambers.

The City of Chesapeake, in partnership with Chesapeake Public Schools, is concluding work on a long-term Facilities Master Plan (FMP) to identify and prioritize the current and future needs of our public school facilities and to support the required fiscal planning. The FMP will guide major capital investments such as new construction and renovations over the next several years. Due to the pandemic, the community engagement on attendance zones is no longer a part of this project. Additional updates about the project are available on the website at

As part of this effort, the city and school district formed a Steering Committee comprised of teachers and administrators, parents, students, city staff, higher education representatives, business leaders and other community members. The Committee has been involved in the detailed work of the study and was charged with representing community voices at key steps in the planning process, taking part in community dialogue meetings and providing feedback to the district, the city and the consulting team.  The Committee's input has been vital in developing options for consideration.

The final Steering Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This meeting will be held online and is open to the public via in-person viewing at City Hall in the City Council Chambers.
