The Chesapeake Transportation System (CTS) consists of the Chesapeake Expressway and the improved Dominion Boulevard. The CTS will operate as a single facility. By combining operations, we can reduce redundancy and overhead. For information on both roads, visit their respective pages.
Chesapeake Expressway
The Route 168 Chesapeake Expressway is a fast and convenient 16-mile long, four-lane divided highway linking I-64 in Chesapeake to North Carolina and the Outer Banks. Learn more about the Chesapeake Expressway.
Dominion Boulevard

The recently completed improvement project expanded the road to four lanes and replaced the moveable Steel Bridge with the 95-foot high fixed-span Veterans Bridge. E-ZPass Information
E-ZPass transponders that are registered to a valid E-ZPass account provide convenience and savings while traveling. The Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge uses "open road" tolling, meaning there is no stopping at toll booths. If you have an active E-ZPass account, you will pay less per transaction on Dominion Boulevard. At the Chesapeake Expressway, motorists with a Virginia E-ZPass have the opportunity to sign up for the Chesapeake Expressway Discount Program to save money on frequent trips. Virginia E-ZPass retail transponders are available for purchase at Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) locations and select retailers. A retail transponder must be registered with E-ZPass either online or by calling 1-877-762-7924. Two new full-service E-ZPass locations are now operating in Norfolk and Portsmouth.
