Tent Permits Issued Under the Zoning Ordinance

1. Tents 900 square feet or less, temporary in nature and occupied by less than 50 persons: no permit required
2. Tents 900 square feet or less, temporary in nature and occupied by more than 50 persons: $50
   • Example: Tents 900 square feet or less: the fee is $50 per tent + $50 Administration fee  + $5 technology fee: $105
   • The State levy is not applied to the zoning permit. A zoning plan review fee is not applied unless it is applicable to a residential building permit
   • (If multiple tents are used to create one large tent - apply only one $50 fee)

Tent and Air Supported Structures Permits (Air Supported Structures) Issued Under the VUSBC

1. Tents greater than 900 square feet, temporary in nature: $50.
   • Example: Tents greater than 900 square feet: the fee is $50 per tent + $50 Administration fee + $5 technology fee + 2% State levy ($2.00) = $107
   • (If multiple tents are used to create one large tent- apply only one $50 fee)
   • (A zoning plan review fee is not applied unless it is applicable to a residential building permit).
2. A copy of the flame retardant certificate is required to be presented at the time of permit issuance.

As per City Code, Section 14-33 (j), no fees shall be assessed for permits obtained by employees of the city or the city school board, acting within the scope of their employment, for the city or school board projects.
