Join Back Bay Amateur Astronomers (BBAA) as they bring their scopes and expertise to bear on the sun and our galaxy. You're invited to join the club at their monthly SkyWatch at Northwest River Park's Equestrian Area to learn more about the night sky, and SUN-Days at Elizabeth River Park to learn more about the sun. Club members will be on hand to show you the sun on SUN-Days (see note), and the planets, stars, galaxies and more during SkyWatch (see note) depending on the time of year. For those who would like some help with new telescopes, club members hold an afternoon "Telescope 101" pre-SkyWatch event beginning about 90 minutes before sunset (please contact the club to set up). Please do not shine flashlights or headlights in the Equestrian area. Red flashlights are fine as they don't damage our night vision.
Note: Weather permitting, but please contact the Back Bay Astronomers in advance to verify scheduled events (see link below) or see their Facebook page for event updates.
Cost: Free and open to the public. For all groups of ten or more people, reservations are strongly encouraged.
