The City Council met on May 10, 2022 and passed an ordinance to amend Chapter 30 of the Chesapeake City Code, entitled "Finance and Taxation", Article XII, entitled "Food and Beverages Tax", section 30-389 thereof, to increase meal tax from 5.5% of the total amount paid for Food and Beverages to 6% of the total amount paid for food and beverages in food establishments effective July 1, 2022.
Please update your records and registers to reflect this tax increase as of July 1, 2022.
