Submit 3 sets of plans with Fire Permit application to Fire Prevention for review and approval. Pick up the approved package from Fire Prevention when notified and pay for and obtain a permit from Development and Permits
Fire Prevention Inspector from Fire Department. To request an inspection, please call the City's Customer Contact Center at 757-382-2489; a Fire Inspector will contact you to schedule an appointment for inspection Landscape Must submit the landscape plan to the Environmental Coordinator for approval prior to requesting a building final inspection N/A Building Inspector or Environmental Coordinator As-builts Must submit an as-built site plan to the Department of Development & Permits, Development Construction, prior to issuance of certificate of occupancy N/A Department of Development and Permits, Development Construction, 757-382-8298 Flood Certification Must submit a flood certification if the property is in the flood zone. N/A Department of Development and Permits, Plan Examiner Note: Upon the completion of the above inspections and payment satisfaction of any outstanding fees, the Certificate of Occupancy will be issued.
- Who should I call to request an inspection?
The City will make every effort to provide inspections on your requested date. However, please be aware the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code allows two working days from the date of request to perform the inspection.
You can request your inspections by phone or online.
- Please call 757-382-CITY (2489) to request an inspection. The operator is on duty Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Online inspection requests via eBuild.

- Property Address
- Type of Inspections
- Contractor's Name
- Phone Number
- Requestor Name
All requested inspections should be directed to and processed by the City's Customer Contact Center at 757-382-CITY (2489). You may also submit your inspection request online via the City of Chesapeake Customer Contact Center or online via eBuild.
Next-business-day inspection requests by phone must be received by 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any requests after 3 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be scheduled for Tuesday.
