The Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake is a Court of general jurisdiction served by five judges. The Court hears criminal and civil cases including divorce cases.
To provide support to the court in the administration of equal justice and equal access, the preservation of court and land related records and the delivery of quality service that is responsive to the needs of our citizens.
This court has jurisdiction in cases involving misdemeanors, violations of City ordinances, minor civil suits, preliminary hearings of felony cases, traffic violations, and small claims up to $25,000.
