APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.

Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by March 1, 2010. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its March 23, 2010, meeting.

Applications are currently being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:

• Chesapeake Agriculture Advisory Commission, 1 appointment
         (Horticulture representative)
• Chesapeake OPEB Finance Board, 1 appointment
         (Citizen)
• Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board, 2 appointments
• Citizens Juvenile Advisory Board, 1 appointment
• Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee, 2 appointments
         (One must be a business representative and one must be an attorney)

In addition, applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:

• Chesapeake Bicycle/Trails Advisory Committee, 1 appointment
         (Must be a Farm Bureau Representative)
• Groundwater Committee, 6 appointments
         (Citizens)
• Transportation Safety Commission, 1 appointment
