APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

CHESAPEAKE -- The Chesapeake City Council is seeking residents who may be interested in serving on various boards and commissions. Boards and commissions provide a vital service to various City departments, agencies and City Council.
             
Citizens wishing to serve must complete an application form. Applications are due in the City Clerk’s office by April 1, 2008. City Council will appoint candidates for these vacancies during its April 22, 2008, meeting.

Applications are currently being accepted for the following Boards and Commissions:

• Airport Authority, 4 appointments
• Chesapeake Commission for the Prevention of AIDS, 1 appointment
• Chesapeake Community Criminal Justice Board, 1 appointment
• Chesapeake Tourism Advisory Board, 2 appointments
• Chesapeake Youth Committee, 3 appointments
• Groundwater Committee, 4 appointments
• Tidewater Community College Board, 2 appointments
• Tidewater Regional Group Home Commission, 1 appointment
• South Norfolk Revitalization Commission, 1 appointment

In addition, applications are currently being accepted for the following previously advertised vacancies:

• Chesapeake City Symbol Committee, 8 appointments
• Chesapeake Commission on Substance Abuse, 4 appointments
• Chesapeake Interagency Consortium, 1 appointment
         (Must be a Private Organization Representative)
• Community Services Board, 1 appointment
         (Must be a consumer)
• Local Emergency Planning Committee, 3 appointments
• Southeastern Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program, 1 appointment
• South Hampton Roads Disability Services Board, 1 appointment
         (Must be physically impaired)
