For Your Information
Tracking Damage: Citizens are asked to report any property damage to their livable structure (damage to trees, sheds, vehicles does NOT need to be reported to the city, but should be reported to your insurance company) to the City using the online Crisis Track system or by calling 757-382-CITY. This reporting is for tracking purposes and assists the City in providing data to state and federal partners. Damage should also be reported to your individual insurance company, for possible reimbursement.
Bulk Trash Collection: The City will resume collection of bulk waste of all types (with the exception of construction debris) will continue through Aug. 14. This will be accomplished by "sweeping" the City in multiple passes. Residents may place both storm debris and other bulk items at the curb on their collection day. Items will be collected as quickly as possible, and should be left at the curb until collected.
Residents will NOT be required to submit a bulk trash collection request until after Aug. 14. Bulk collections during this time will not count against the annual 12-collection bulk limits.
Bulk waste is limited to one 4-foot-wide by 4-foot-high by 10-foot-long pile. Tree limbs, branches and sticks must not exceed 6 inches in diameter and 6 feet in length. Residents should place bulk household items and bagged or stacked yard waste/limbs/branches in separate piles
Trash and recycling: Trash and recycling collection will be postponed by one day this week. Due to the delay in collection, residents should leave bins at the curbside until trash and recycling is collected.
