Independence Day Schedule: In honor of Independence Day, all City offices, courts, community centers, and libraries will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Trash and recycling schedules will not change.
This year's South Norfolk 4th of July Parade has been canceled, but Chesapeake Television will replay parades from the past three years starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Watch it on Chesapeake TV on-demand and Cox Channel 48 or Verizon Channel 43. Last year’s parade is featured on YouTube.com/ChesapeakeTelevision.
Don't forget: most types of fireworks are not permitted in Chesapeake

Partial Reopening: Online services remain the safest option. If you must do business in person at a City facility, please call ahead to ensure the service is available. Call 757-382-2489 or the specific department. When visiting a City building, you must maintain social distance and you are encouraged to wear a mask. Please do not enter the building if you have a fever or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days. The hour from 8 to 9 a.m. is reserved for those age 65 and older, and those with a serious health condition. Chesapeake courthouses require all individuals to wear a face mask, keep 6 feet away from others, and refrain from gathering and lingering. Before visiting, please read the courthouse health and safety measures order.
