Meet our
Public Information Coordinator
for Mayor's Youth Day 2007

Vashdie Rogers

Vashdie RogersHi, my name is Vashdie Rogers, and I was Public Information Coordinator for the day. I attend Oscar Smith High School and was eager to participate in Mayor's Youth Day. A little bit about myself, I participate in different clubs at my school and other community organizations. I am a member of National Honor Society and a founding member of the Mu Alpha Theta National Honor Society. This year I am pleased to be President of my school's chapter of Future Business Leaders Of America.

On a more personal note, I am the oldest of four girls. I was born and partly raised on an island in the Caribbean, St. Christopher, and have been living in Chesapeake for 7 years. Some things I like to do include spending time with my family and friends, read a good book, search the web, watch movies and sing (even thought I am not good at it).

After graduation in June, I hope to pursue a career in Business Admin/Management and Accounting. Spending the day with Public Communications has opened my mind up to a whole other field, and I am interested in what the world of Communications has to offer. Mayor's Youth Day was a fun and unforgettable experience. I've learned new things, especially about how the TV channel operates and some of the things that occurs behind the scenes and how things are put together. I would definitely recommend that each student have a chance to participate in Mayor's Youth Day. I thank the Public Communications team for making my day educational but at the same time fun.
