Tara Baird
My name is Tara Baird and I am an Honors student from Indian River High School. I am an active member in many school clubs such as Operation Smile, Alpha, Class Council as well as a varsity tennis player. I am planning to attend the University of British Columbia in the fall of 2006. I jumped at the opportunity to explore this interesting department and am grateful for this truly memorable experience.
I must admit that I came to City Hall with no idea of what was in store for me. However, as the day progressed I gained a greater appreciation and knowledge of the work, expertise and natural ability that goes in to Public Communications. The day was a great success thanks to the dedicated and overall wonderful people in this department. I must attribute my new found interest in media to Liz, Heath, Dawn and Mark, who guided us through the inner workings of a news broadcasting studio as well as on the scene reporting. Thanks to their encouragement and willingness to share their busy day with a few curious high school students; I am now considering pursuing a career in Public Communications. I send out a special thanks to Liz for making this day as enjoyable and insiteful as it was.
