Citizen Advisory Group

The Chesapeake Police Department is seeking interested citizens to apply and be considered for appointment to its Citizen Advisory Group. The purpose of the Citizen Advisory Group is to enhance the cooperative working relationship between the police department and citizens of Chesapeake, further the exchange of information and ideas, promote harmonious police-community relations, and work toward improving conditions relating to the delivery of law enforcement services in our communities.

The Citizen Advisory Group will meet periodically throughout the year with members of the City’s and Police Department’s leadership. Meetings will be held at various times of day and at various locations throughout the City.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and either be a resident of Chesapeake, work in Chesapeake, own property in Chesapeake, or be affiliated with an organization that represents the interests of Chesapeake’s residents. A criminal history background check will be completed on all applicants. All applications will be thoroughly reviewed to ensure diverse representation on the Group and final appointments will be made by the Chief of Police.

Applications can be downloaded from the Chesapeake Police Department or visit any Police Precinct to request one. Questions can be directed to the Office of the Chief of Police by calling (757) 382-8825 or (757) 382-6404.
