CEIC Announces Winners for 2008
Chesapeake's Notable Yards Contest

Beautiful yards in all seven Chesapeake high school districts have been recognized by the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council (CEIC) as part of the Chesapeake’s Notable Yards Contest.  A new judging area was added to the program this year, because of the opening of the new Grassfield High School.

One winning home in each high school district received a certificate, $50 gift certificate from White’s Old Mill Garden Center, and placement of a sign in the yard for a one-month period.  The program is sponsored by the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council (CEIC).

“It is fascinating to visit all of the yards,” said Jean Pfaehler, mayoral-appointee to the CEIC and co-chairperson of the program.  “Every yard is different and interesting in its own way.”  The other co-chairperson is Vickie Greene.
