Parks & Recreation Department - Notable Yards 2005
GREAT BRIDGE. Fred and Sandra Congleton. 560 Warrick Road.
This talented and hard-working couple have created a beautiful and usable outdoor living space. Their landscape plan provides several distinct areas that include comfortable seating, yard art, bird feeders, bird baths, stepping stones, and stone and brick patio areas.
The overall feel of the yard is lush, comfortable, and inviting. The yard has been a Notable Yard in previous years. However, the Congletons don't rest on their laurels. Each year the couple adds major improvements. "This year my husband made these brick walkways throughout the garden," said Sandra Congleton. The brick walkways invite guests into the garden and direct you to meander through the garden. Fred Congleton has created beautiful, intricate patterns in the brick paving in each of the seating areas. Interesting iron gates have also been installed.
