Neighborhood Services Department
MISSION
The Department of Neighborhood Services improves the quality of life and protects the health, safety and welfare of the community through code compliance, zoning ordinances, customer contact center and neighborhood coordination.
VISION
The Department of Neighborhood Services, in cooperation with other city departments, seeks to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Chesapeake through effective and efficient enforcement of all mandated codes, federal, state and local laws and ordinances. This commitment will facilitate a safer, healthier community and future for the City of Chesapeake
The Department of Neighborhood Services consists of six (6) areas of service.

The Chesapeake Neighborhood Services Coordination Division coordinates revitalization efforts and connects residents to services and information to enhance the quality of life in the City of Chesapeake.
Customer Contact Center Division
Effective July 19, 2005, the Customer Contact Center began transforming the way Chesapeake delivers services by providing customers with more personalized service, faster problem resolution and easier access to knowledgeable assistance. Customers can now dial one easy telephone number to receive assistance and information on a wide range of City services. To reach the Customer Contact Center, dial 382-CITY, that's 382-2489. You can also now request city services online!
Youth Services and Housing Divisions
Effective July 1, 2007, the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Youth and Family Services will become new divisions of the Neighborhood Services Department. Click here for more information.
