Chesapeake Medical Reserve Corps

Become a Member!

As a member of the Chesapeake Medical Reserve Corps you will:

  • Receive an orientation from the Health Department regarding specific roles in the event of an emergency.

  • Be assigned to a facility in Chesapeake convenient to you.

  • Be offered free training on topics such as emergency response and preparedness, first aid, CPR, etc.

Potential roles for MRC volunteers may include the following support functions:

  • Dispensing the Strategic National Stockpile components should its contents be needed Chesapeake.

  • Vaccinating or dispensing medications the public at a Chesapeake Neighborhood Emergency Help Center (NEHC).

  • Medical assistance at Special Needs Shelters.

  • Hospital augmentation

  • Mental Health augmentation

  • Training CERTs (Citizen Emergency Response Teams)

  • Staffing Emergency Medical Locations of last resort
