Geo-spacial Data and Metadata Available from the City of Chesapeake's Geographic Information Systems Division

The City of Chesapeake’s Geographic Information Systems Division makes much of its geo-spatial data available to public, private, and commercial interests outside of City Government. These data can be had in electronic format, delivered on CD or DVD for a nominal fee.

A standard distribution CD that includes the following city-wide coverage geographic layers is available for $35.00:

	Boroughs		Land Use Plan
	Chesapeake Bay Preservation Overlay (CBPA)		Open Water
	Corporate Line		Parcels
	Culverts		Planning Areas
	Drainage		South Norfolk Business Overlay
	Easement		Statistical Areas
	Fentress APZ		Streets
	Fentress Property Development Rights		Subdivisions
	Fentress Overlay		Topography (2’ contours and mass-points)
	Hydrology		Zoning
	Lot lines

In addition, the CD includes documentation (metadata) and software (ESRI’s ArcExplorer) that provides some basic tools for working with these layers.

Aerial orthophotographs (citywide less military facilities and the Great Dismal Swamp) are also available on CD or DVD:

	Vintage 1998 False Color Infrared Orthophotographs      2’ pixels compressed using MrSID w/viewer software.      CD-ROM $35.
	Vintage 1995 Black and White Orthophotographs      6” foot pixels compressed and blocked using MrSID w/viewer software.      DVD $35.
	Coming Soon! Vintage 2001 Black and White Orthophotographs      6” foot pixels compressed and blocked using MrSID.      DVD $35.
