The public school system completes a monthly report of truant children and matches their names with those whose parents receive TANF benefits. The report is then sent to the Department of Social Services where agency policy is followed and the case monitored.

If I receive a letter informing me of the truancy of my child(ren), will my benefits be reduced automatically?

student on computer No. If you respond a service case will be opened and a service plan formed that will be agreed to by the parent(s), child(ren), social worker and school personnel evidenced by signatures.
