The mission of the Chesapeake Community Services Board is to optimize the quality of life by providing exceptional services to the citizens of Chesapeake whose lives are affected by mental illness, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse, or developmental difficulties.
The Chesapeake Community Services Board (CCSB) is an agency of the City of Chesapeake. The Board of Directors Board of Directors is a 12-member citizen board appointed by The Chesapeake City Council. Our programs are supported by local, state, and federal tax dollars, as well as by third party payers (i.e. private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, etc.) and consumer fees. The Virginia Department of Mental Health, Intellectual Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS) license our services.
The CCSB strives to:
-
Provide affordable service. Fees for service are based on the consumers' ability to pay.
-
Provide accessible service. A 24-hour emergency service crisis line is available 7 days a week.
-
Assist families in caring for their family member suffering from a mental disability.
-
Aggressively initiate and participate in activities designed to prevent further incidence of mental illness, substance abuse and intellectual disabilities.
-
Enable citizens with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse disorders to remain in their home, schools, and the community at large.
-
Supply opportunities for day treatment/vocational rehabilitation services and residential independence. Transportation is offered for a variety of services.
