July is Park and Recreation Month 2020
Happy July! This year, the National Recreation and Park Association is celebrating July is Park and Recreation month with the theme, We Are Parks and Recreation, acknowledging the work that park and recreation professionals do for their communities. We will be celebrating with our patrons through social media with several contests beginning Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
Contest 1 - Trivia Tuesdays
Since staff have created videos to reach our citizens during the various phases of COVID, we will have Trivia Tuesdays at 10 a.m. every week during July on the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Facebook Page. A trivia question will be posed from any of the videos that have aired since March. Videos can be viewed on our YouTube Channel. The first person to comment correctly on the post gets a prize pack they can pick up at our Administrative Office and Visitor Center.
Contest 2 - Follower Appreciation Friday
Every Friday at 10 a.m., we’ll draw names from new followers in July and people who have “liked” or “followed” our page prior to July. Help us reach 10,000 likes by liking our page this month! Prize pack winners will be notified via a private Facebook message.
(Note: July 2020 contest winners are ineligible for more than one prize pack and are asked not to participate in more than one contest during July 2020.)
We know the work we do is important to our communities, and now more than ever, we know what we do is essential. We help make Chesapeake a better place to live, work and play by maintaining, beautifying, and improving our parks, athletic fields, and open spaces; cleaning work and public spaces in city buildings; educating, guiding and safeguarding; connecting with people, and all the other contributions that make our operating unit, Parks, Recreation and Tourism, function while making a positive difference for visitors to our city and many people in our community.
Help us celebrate this month by sharing our posts and contributing with positive comments for what we do at Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
