Youth Advisory Board
Who are the Youth Advisory Board?
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) are high school youth (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders) who want to make a difference in unique, personal ways and set a good example as positive role models.
What is the purpose of YAB?
To model and encourage a positive youth lifestyle in partnership with youth service professionals in the City of Chesapeake.
What is the role of YAB?
To provide a way for youth in Chesapeake to share input and concerns with the agencies who serve youth. This committee serves in an advisory capacity to Chesapeake RU Ready? Coalition to ensure that the Chesapeake RU Ready? Coalition is not only working for youth, but with youth.
How are they selected?
Any rising 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grader that lives in Chesapeake and attends a Chesapeake High School, a Chesapeake private school, or is home schooled may apply.
Applicants must commit to attending meetings and being a contributing member. Any member who does not attend three meetings without communication will be placed on the inactive list.
What do they do?
- Plan and attend meetings and training
- Participate in community service projects
- Serve as role models for other youth
