Station 3 is currently the newest fire station in the city, replacing the station that was in existence since 1951. Station 3 is a state of the art 10,000 sq ft building.
The new station houses 24 firefighters, six on duty each 24 hour shift. Station 3 also has one Engine Company, and an ALS medic company. Station 3 protects a very diverse area, ranging from low-income housing to multi-million dollar waterfront homes, as well as small businesses to large industrial businesses, including multi-story hotels.
Engine 3 has been the busiest Engine in Chesapeake for 2007, 2008 and 2009. Station 3 is the home of the John Hudgins and Frank Young Memorial, who gave their lives in a fire on March 18 1996.
