Partial Reopening: The City is beginning a partial reopening on Monday, May 18. Online services remain the safest option. If you must do business in person at a City facility, please call ahead to ensure the service is available. You can call 757-382-2489 or the specific department.
When visiting a City building, you must maintain social distance and you are encouraged to wear a mask. Please do not enter the building if you have a fever or have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days. For the added safety and health of our at-risk populations, the hour from 8 to 9 a.m. is reserved for those age 65 and older, and those with a serious health condition. We appreciate the public assistance in self-enforcing this restriction, for everyone’s benefit.
It is still safer at home, so please do all you can to avoid in-person services. Find continued updates on the COVID-19 Information page.
Trash and Recycling Collection Postponed for Tuesday, August 4.
Due to severe weather associated with Tropical Storm Isaias forecast to impact our area on Tuesday, August 4, Public Works Waste Management will postpone curbside trash and recycling collection by one day this week. Tuesday collection routes will begin on Wednesday, August 5. Residents should NOT place bins at the curbside until at least 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4. Due to the delay in collection, residents should leave bins at the curbside until trash and recycling is collected. Resumption of service is subject to change based on weather conditions and storm impacts. Any additional changes to trash and recycling collection will be announced as information becomes available.
Bulk Pickup Notice:
Due to staffing impacts related to COVID-19, all bulk waste collections are suspended for the rest of the month of July. This includes bagged yard waste. The only trash service being offered for the rest of the month is automated bin collection and recycling. If you have already placed bulk waste at the curb, we will do our best to get to it if staffing allows but please do not place any additional bulk waste at the curbside this month. Bulk Collection requests via online and mobile applications are also unavailable at this time. If you have a critical need to dispose of bulk waste before the end of the month, there are options through SPSA which you can find at SPSA.com or by calling 757-420-4700.
