If you have requested an absentee ballot but now want to vote in person, you can! Here’s how:
Bring the absentee ballot you received with you to the voting location and surrender it to the Officer of Elections. Once the Officer can confirm the validity of the absentee ballot, you’ll be able to vote in-person with a regular ballot.
If you cannot bring the absentee ballot with you because you A.) have not yet received it yet or B.) have misplaced it, you will be asked to sign a statement confirming your identity under penalty of perjury and you’ll be allowed to cast a provisional ballot. If your eligibility is verified by election officials, your provisional ballot will be counted.
The best way to vote in-person after you’ve requested an absentee ballot is to bring your blank ballot with you when you go to vote. If you have questions, contact the Chesapeake Voter Registrar’s Office at 277-9797.
