Chesapeake Public Schools welcomed some children back in person this week with more expected by the end of the month. Get your CPS information directly from the source by visiting their website, Facebook, or Twitter.
The Census & The Constitution
Time is running out – you have until the end of the month to be counted in the most important survey of the decade. The Census was put forth in the Constitution as a way to make sure the people are properly represented. Take the Census now at my2020Census.gov or call 844-330-2020.
Chesapeake Recycles Day - Cancelled
The September 19 Chesapeake Recycles Day event has been cancelled. There are two events left this year. For details visit CityofChesapeake.net/RecyclesDay.
Great American Cleanup
Do your part to keep Chesapeake beautiful by participating in the annual Great American Cleanup on September 18-19! Get supplies or location suggestions from the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department by signing up for a cleanup ahead of time. Or, head out on your own or with a small group (keeping it COVID friendly of course) and pick up litter in your neighborhood.
Calendar Photo Contest
Calling all photographers, both amateur and professional! Send us your photos of Chesapeake parks, trails, waterways, wildlife to be considered for the 2021 Keep Chesapeake Beautiful Calendar. Entries are due by September 18.
City Council
City Council meets on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. There is no work session this week. Watch live on your television on Cox Channel 48 or Verizon Channel 43. It’ll also stream online at CityofChesapeake.net/LiveFeed.

- To Participate by Email: Email council@cityofchesapeake.net or call 757-382-6151 prior to 5 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Provide your name, the agenda item you wish to address, and your comments. The City Clerk will read your comments into the record during the meeting.
- To Participate in Person: Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and in order to comply with State and Federal recommendations, occupancy in the Council Chamber will be limited. Speaker cards will be accepted in person for the Council Meeting up until 6:30 p.m. or please call the City Clerk’s Office at 757-382-6151 prior to 5 p.m. and a speaker card will be filled out with your information.
