Here are all the links and details from this week's edition of Chesapeake Weekly: Under 5, which you can find on our Instagram page every Monday.
Bulk Waste
Bulk Waste collection is back in action! Requests are now needed for the collection of any bulk waste. There are restrictions on what you can and can't place at the curb, as well as how much. Find restrictions here.
Chesapeake Public Schools Set to Start Sept. 8
Chesapeake Public Schools start September 8. Even with virtual learning, kids need school supplies. Drop off your donations at the YMCA location nearest you. They’re looking for things like pens, pencils, scissors, loose leaf paper, masks, headphones, etc. Learn more at 757-482-5923.
Know Your Zone
September is the height of hurricane season. Know your zone, make a plan (which might include having a hurricane buddy in case of evacuation!), and have an emergency kit ready.
Intersection Improvements
The Public Works Department is preparing for an improvement project for the right-turn lane at the Great Bridge Blvd and Battlefield Blvd intersection. View the virtual citizen information meeting and submit your comments through the project webpage (bit.ly/GBBmeeting).
COVIDWISE App
The Virginia Department of Health has come out with an app that could help minimize the spread of COVID-19. It’s the COVIDWISE app and it uses bluetooth low energy technology to quickly notify users who have likely been exposed so you can reduce the risk of infection for your family and friends. All you have to do is download it from the google play store or the iPhone app store.
Chesapeake City Council
Chesapeake City Council does not meet this week. They meet the second, third, and fourth Tuesday of every month so they will be back in Council Chambers next week.
And don't forget that Monday, September 7 is Labor Day so all City offices and facilities will be closed!
