Hurricane season is over but snow season is about to begin. Now is the time to prepare! If you made an emergency supply kit during hurricane season, you’re off to a great start. A lot of the items will be similar for snow season. Take a look at the items in your kit and make sure everything still works, the food is not expired, and any medications are up to date. Then add a few winter weather items like warm clothes and blankets.
When it comes to winter weather, you should also have an emergency kit in your vehicle. It should include basic car safety items such as jumper cables, flares, car phone charger, and a first aid kit. For winter, you should also consider including sand (to provide traction in case you get stuck in snow or ice), blankets, warm clothing, ice scraper, bottled water, and non-perishable snacks.
