The flip side of a beautiful holiday season is that it tends to generate a lot of trash. If you can reuse, repurpose, or give away an unwanted item, that’s great. If not, here’s what you can and cannot recycle when it comes to common holiday trash.
No: Bubble wrap, Christmas trees, decorations, aluminum foil, foil pans, gift bags, greeting cards, ribbons and bows, wrapping and tissue paper, Styrofoam, and plastic packaging. All of these things cannot go into the blue bin.
Yes: Paper (including clean cardboard), bottles, and cans are the only items that should be recycled. Everything should go directly into your blue bin, not in a plastic garbage bag. Break down cardboard boxes to better fit into your bin. TFC Recycling cannot collect anything that doesn’t fit into your bin so a pile of cardboard boxes next to your bin will not be collected.
While we appreciate everyone who wants to recycle as much as possible, it’s critical to recycle right. If it’s not paper, bottles, or cans, choose the brown bin.
