Employee Assistance Program

The City of Chesapeake is committed to maintaining a positive working environment and encourages the growth and development of all of its employees. City management recognizes that each employee's personal and professional well being directly affects both job satisfaction and work performance. Problems, whether personal or work related, may result in poor work performance if left unresolved. While the City has no interest in intruding in the personal lives of its employees, it is management's desire to help employees recognize when a problem exists and obtain the assistance that they need before it affects their performance on the job.

Therefore, the City has an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), administered by Maryview Bon Secours. The EAP was established to provide a simple and confidential means for employees to obtain the help they need to resolve personal and work-related problems before these problems affect their workplace performance. It is a CONFIDENTIAL counseling, assessment and referral service. The EAP emphasizes the confidentiality of all treatment or counseling, regardless of the stage at which the referral is made. All regular fulltime and part-time City employees, their spouses or significant others, and dependents are eligible to participate in the EAP. The services of an EAP counselor, up to eight visits, are free to all eligible City employees and their dependents.

For more information please call 757-398-2374, toll free 1-800-EAP-3257 or visit their website at www.virginiaemployeewellness.com.
