Commonwealth's Attorney, Nancy G. Parr
The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney prosecutes all felony, driving under the influence cases and many other misdemeanor criminal cases in the General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District and Circuit Courts. In addition, the Office handles civil cases such as election law violations, forfeiture actions against property used in connection with illegal activities, restoration of driving privileges and other matters.
The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office provides general legal assistance to the Police Department, other agencies and the public on a wide variety of criminal issues. In addition, the Office screens all people applying for concealed weapons permits.
This Office works closely with the Victim/Witness Program through the Sheriff's Office. It is through this collaboration that the needs and rights of victims and witnesses are addressed and protected.
