The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board advises, recommends and influences the Director of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, City Manager, City Council and the general public on planning and developing programs that will best meet the parks and recreation needs of the community. (City Code § 2-396)
The City of Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Advisory Board is a 16-member advisory body appointed by City Council. The Board makes recommendations relative to planning of facilities and programs and makes policy for the department’s athletic rules and regulations. They also review and endorse the department’s annual operating budget. The meetings are held at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month. Meetings take place at one of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism facilities on a rotating basis. Please refer to the Meeting Information Flyer for the current location or call 757-382-1321.
