Rain Barrel Workshop
Collecting rainwater in a barrel can save you money during the dry seasons and reduce demand on your well or save on your water bill. With a roof of 1,000 square feet, an inch of rain can generate 600 gallons of water!
At each rain barrel workshop, you'll learn about the many uses of a rain barrel and you'll even build one yourself! All supplies are included in the fee, which will be determined at the beginning of the season. To learn how to make a rain barrel yourself during the off season, visit the Ask HR Green website for a construction guide.
There will be two rain barrel classes in 2017: Saturday, May 20 and Saturday, September 9. Both classes are held at 10 a.m. at the Agriculture Extension trailer in the City Hall complex on the corner of Holt & Shea Drive. The class costs $55 which includes a barrel and all instructions. Register by filling out this form and returning it to the Chesapeake Extension Office at 310 Shea Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Call them at 757-382-6348 for more information.
