
Jason J. Brown is the Public Information Coordinator for the City of Chesapeake’s Public Works Department. Having served the department for a year and a half, he brings more than a decade of government and non-profit public affairs and media relations experience to the City.
Jason began his public affairs career in 2009, stationed here in Hampton Roads as a public affairs specialist in the U.S. Air Force, engaging the local, national and international communities with stories and information about Air Force and Army capabilities. After finishing his military service in 2016, he moved to Northern Virginia, where he served in media relations for a major national civil rights advocacy non-profit organization, before returning to Hampton Roads in 2018 to begin working for the City of Chesapeake.
He received an A.A.S. in Mass Communications through the Community College of the Air Force and is pursuing a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Additionally, he is a member of the American Public Works Association, the Chesapeake Environmental Improvement Council, and volunteers in the community as a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary.
