Our night-time spray trucks apply an ultra-low volume spray composed of extremely small droplets (microns in size) targeted toward mosquitoes on the wing (flying). The pesticide breaks down very quickly and is not designed to persist in the environment on any surfaces it may reach. We pride ourselves with protecting pollinators as much as possible, night-time spray begins in the evening (7-7:30 p.m.) when pollinators are less numerous and mosquito activity is greatest. We also only spray as a last resort when adult mosquito numbers have reached a pre-determined threshold or when a mosquito disease has been detected in the area. There are 2 prevalent mosquito diseases that we track throughout the season: West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
We have a “do not spray” list if you choose. A technician will come out to your property and place a reflective stick at the end of your driveway, usually close to the mailbox. When the spray technician drives by, the spray will be turned off approximately 2 houses before and after your property. Please call 757-382-3450 to be added to the “do not spray” list.
