Arts Alive! Competition
(Formerly the Arts Education Grants and Doris Sahr Piano Auditions)
The annual Arts Alive! Student Competition — a performance, critique and competition event for our talented Chesapeake students, ages 12-19 takes place in early spring. Valuable in several ways, this popular annual audition experience provides the student professional appraisal and evaluation by some of the area's most respected and well-known artists/judges in the students' art disciplines: instrumental, dance, visual arts, vocal and piano. Arts Alive! allows students to become more comfortable with auditioning and affords them an opportunity to win a financial grant to support their artistic talents.
Arts Alive!, is an annual event presented by the all-volunteer, non-profit (501.C.3) arts-support group, Arts Alive! Chesapeake (formerly called Friends of the Arts), and the Chesapeake Fine Arts Commission.
For information about Arts Alive! 2019 Competition which will be held February 16, 2019, please visit the Friends of the Arts website after December 1, 2018 for the latest information: ArtsAliveChesapeake.org
