SENIOR SERVICES OF SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA

Call 461-9481 between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday to arrange for medical rides in the Tidewater area. Reservations must be made in advance no later than 4 to 5 working days. Rides, including wheelchair transport, generally available for appointments between 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM. Donations of $3.00 are requested.

HAMPTON ROADS TRANSIT (HRT)

Handi-Ride:
Call 640-6247 between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM daily. Handi-Ride is a HRT's curb to curb lift equipped van service for people who are unable to use the HRT bus system due to disabilities. Reservations are required on Handi-Ride up to 14 days before your trip and no later than 4:30 PM one day prior to your trip. Eligibility is based on Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), certification and residency within ¾ miles of a public bus route. Charge is $3.00 one way.

Call 640-6300 for customer service. Most buses and trolleys lift equipped. Front areas of all buses are reserved for the elderly and disabled. Seniors over 60 pay half fare of 75 cents.

    Tickets ( 10 for $7.50 )
  • Fare Cutter Cards:
    $32.00 per calendar month plus 25 cents per ride.
  • Extend-A-Ride:
    35 Cents—lets riders get off the bus for up to two hours and get back on any route without paying twice.
  • Maxi-Ride:
    Call 640-6300. In areas where bus service is unavailable, HRT provides Maxi-Ride, a convenient curb to curb transit service. Passengers can travel anywhere within Maxi-Ride territory and make convenient connections to the HRT bus system. Maxi-Ride operates Monday through Saturday from 6:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Reservations are required.
