    CHEAR! - Coalition for Hearing, Education and Research

    CHEAR’s mission is to foster and provide support for the necessary resources to the Hampton Roads community, its region, our nation and beyond, so that all citizens can obtain the highest quality and comprehensive services for disorders of the ear, hearing and balance.  This goal is achieved through programs for identification, clinical care, research, rehabilitation, education, public awareness and advocacy and by cooperation with the medical, educational, and social institutions of the communities in which we serve. 


    Council for Disability Rights

    On national, state, and local levels, the Council for Disability Rights advances the rights of people with disabilities.


    Disability Network Inc.

    Disability Network, Inc., is an information highway for the disabled and their families. You will find support from others as well as helpful and entertaining links for adults and children. Visit the Chat Room.

    DRA is a non-profit law firm dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities.\

    Job Accommodation Network (JAN)

    JAN, a free consulting service designed to increase the employability of people with disabilities by: 1) providing individualized worksite accommodations solutions, 2) providing technical assistance regarding the ADA and other disability related legislation, and 3) educating callers about self-employment options.

    Mental Disability Rights International

    Established in 1993, MDRI documents conditions, publishes reports on human rights enforcement, and promotes international oversight of the rights of people with mental disabilities.


    National Arts and Disability Center
    The NADC website offers free resource directories, annotated bibliographies, and materials and articles on a wide array of subjects. The website contains the equivalent of over 600 pages of information. Topic areas include: disability art and culture, accessible programs for museums, mixed-ability dance, inclusive theatre, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the arts, common terms used regarding accessibility and the arts, products and services, marketing and publicity, and strategies to design accessible arts websites.

    They provide prompt technical assistance via our online "Help Desk." The site contains links to other national and internationally known arts and disability websites along with a web tour of individual artists with disabilities. They also present an online gallery that features the work of artists with disabilities.
    National Business & Disability Council

    The National Business & Disability Council is the leading resource for employers seeking to integrate people with disabilities into the workplace and companies seeking to reach them in the consumer marketplace..


    The National Center on Physical Activity and Disability

    NCPAD is an information center concerned with physical activity and disability.

    The National Organization on Disability

    The mission of the National Organization on Disability (N.O.D.) is to expand the participation and contribution of America’s 54 million men, women and children with disabilities in all aspects of life.
