Not A City Of Chesapeake Project
Railroad crews will be working at Snowden St, Bisco St, and Turn Ln on Thursday, Jan.16. Neighborhood crossing closures will be postponed to another time before the end of the year.
Southern Commercial Development, LLC, a contractor working on behalf of CSX Transportation, will close several railroad crossings in Chesapeake to accommodate routine track maintenance and repair. These closures are expected to last from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the scheduled dates. This schedule is subject to change without notice. This project and associated closures are not managed by the City of Chesapeake and this advisory is for informational purposes only. For additional information, contact Southern Commercial Development, LLC at (803) 808-3600.
Residents and businesses should be prepared to NOT have any vehicular access during the closure hours, as they will not be able to cross the tracks. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained as construction allows. Residents who choose to stay in their neighborhood must understand that they will not be able to drive out of the neighborhood during their crossing’s closure. If they leave the neighborhood before the closure begins, they will not be able to return with their vehicle until their crossing has been reopened. Residents may choose to park their vehicle on the opposite side of the crossing (if there is space to do so in a legal and safe manner) and walk to and from them when necessary.
Residents are reminded that Chesapeake community centers are open weekdays from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and libraries are open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., if they are in need of a place to go during the closure.
Emergency response vehicles will be staged inside the neighborhood during the closure. In the event of an emergency, police and fire will respond as normal, using the vehicles parked inside the closure area to directly reach the incident.
Chesapeake Public Schools will directly notify families whose children’s bus routes may be affected.
REMINDER: This project and associated closures are not managed by the City of Chesapeake. This advisory is for informational purposes only. For additional information, contact Southern Commercial Development, LLC at (803) 808-3600.
